When a significant issue forces Windows to abruptly shut down or restart, blue screen problems—also referred to as black screen errors or STOP code issues—can happen. A notification stating anything along the lines of "Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" or something similar may appear.

Both hardware and software problems can be the root of these difficulties. Shut down your computer, take out any new hardware you installed before the Blue Screen issue, and then try resuming. If your computer won't restart, you can start it in safe mode. See Start your computer in safe mode in Windows for further information.

You can also try using Windows Update to download the most recent updates, receiving assistance from other sources, or reverting Windows to a previous version.
